The PEP-UP project, (PhDs Enhanced for Prospects ErasmUs Plus),  aims to identify the main competencies and traits required by industry from engineering doctoral students planning to work in industry, and then match these with the academic part of their studies. Accompanied by the local regions’ input in ensuring local needs are met, this work would manifest itself in the form of intense one-week workshops for these students, delivered by the corporate and academic partners. The emphasis on these competencies and making the students self-aware of their abilities, would make them more prepared for employment in industry. Their talents and training would benefit their prospective workplaces,  economy, regions and society. They would also become more aware of possible career paths in industry which makes best use of their doctoral skills.
